INTRODUCTION 2 KINDS OF HETEROCHROMIA
Take a look in the mirror.
Have you ever noticed that your eyes may not be one solid color? If so, you may have Heterochromia! What is Heterochromia? Heterochromia is a contrast in pigment of the eye, but could also affect coloration of hair or skin. This color differentiation is caused by having a superfluous amount of melanin in the iris or the complete opposite, having too little. This condition is common on humans as well as animals such as dogs like huskies, cats, and horses. How does someone acquire heterochromia? One can be affected by heterochromia in three various ways. It can be inherited, caused by genetic mutation, or develop from a disease or injury, like getting physically punched near the eye. This case can be applied to David Bowie (can be found in the Notable People section) who acquired both Heterochromia and Anisocoria (unusual sizing of the iris). |
